Police arrest teen for vandalism and grand larceny

Chesterfield County police have arrested a juvenile male in relation to the vandalism and burglary of Swift Creek Middle School on Tuesday, July 24.

At about 5:30 a.m. on July 24, police responded to an alarm at Swift Creek Middle School. Officers saw a male suspect fleeing the school, but they were unable to apprehend him at that time. Glass was broken out of several doors at the school, and some electronic items were taken.

On Saturday, July 28, a 17-year-old male was arrested on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, grand larceny and damaging public buildings in relation to the incident. The property taken from the school was recovered.

Police believe the suspect was also involved in other recent property crimes in the Brandermill area. The investigation continues, and additional charges are pending.
